about

This Mbira music is to introduce a 3 Octave Heptatonic Karimba that I build. The instrument has 24 reeds and spans 3 octaves and a third. On the left are ranks ascending vertically of the notes 1,2,3 and on the right ranks (asc. vert.) of 4,5,6,7. Though there are no duplicated fundaments on left and right, the double octave and a third overtones of the lower 8 brass reeds are repeated in the highest 8 reeds. In each track the same instrument has been performed once on the left channel and once on the right channel. Recorded in 2018 in Italy. Album cover painted by Phillip Nangle in 2018; titled: "Mbila Muthondo".
